Business Development Manager

If you love food, wellness, and building movement-driving lifestyle brands, we'd love to meet you. Methodology is hiring a Business Development Manager who will own closing and ensuring the implementation and success of partnerships with brands, influencers, and businesses.

We’re planning to grow as quickly as possible and are looking for someone able to handle the demands of a hitting ambitious growth targets each quarter. The ideal candidate has experience managing a sales and partnership pipeline and needs little guidance and direction in order to succeed.

This role reports directly to the Director of Marketing and is located in San Francisco.

In this role, your work will have a major impact on

  • A product that's a key part of our customers' everyday lives and empowers them to feel their absolute best every day

  • Attracting new customers motivated to change their lives through consistent, healthy eating

  • The effectiveness of our product in helping customers stay engaged in order to achieve their wellness goals

  • Helping spread awareness and education throughout America about food as medicine


  • At a high level, the most important thing we need you to do is close partnerships that will hit your customer acquisition targets

  • Create and manage a partnership pipeline and track the impact on sales of all the partnerships you generate

  • Build out an influencer partnership platform / marketplace and own the end-to-end funnel needed to source and close these partnerships

  • Partner with the Wellness Coach team and set up a process for them to help you manage day-to-day account management of all partnerships

  • Build the largest base of social media (Instagram, YouTube) influencers (fitness, food, chefs, nutrition, doctors, celebrities) partnerships, wellness brand (eg Everlywell, Helix, Fitplan, Barry’s Bootcamp, Equinox, etc.) partnerships, healthcare (eg Parsley Health, One Medical, Oscar, Livongo, etc.) partnerships, science research (Stanford University, UCSF, UC Berkeley, etc.) partnerships, media (Goop, Well + Good, Mind Body Green, etc.) partnerships, and company HR wellness (Google, Facebook, Netflix, Uber, etc.) partnerships of any food brand

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years experience in sales or business development

  • Experience in the wellness or lifestyle industry a plus

  • Exceptional communication and writing skills

  • Able to negotiate and close deals

  • Ability to work proactively and effectively, with minimal guidance and oversight

  • An exceptional creative problem solver

  • Empathetic and good listener: able to figure out what your targets’ pain points and needs are and create solutions that benefit both them and us

  • Decisive, action-oriented, scrappy and resourceful

  • Team player: you put the good of the team and business first

  • Scrappy: you’ll figure out a way in at all of your targets no matter what

  • Able to put infrastructure and processes in place where there are none

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment where everyone is expected to make a big impact

  • Flexible, well-organized and able to manage a high-volume workload and numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressures
